Text: Luke 2:52; 1:26-28; Proverbs 22:1; Psalms 41:11; 1 Samuel

Like we discussed before, favour is a powerful product from heaven that brings you sweatless victory. It is that divine electric current that can move you into the destiny that God has for you.

Let us look at what the scriptures have to say about favour:Luke 2:52 (KJV) “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ needed to have favour with God and with man, and that favour continued to increase in his life.

Luke 1:26-28 (KJV) “And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.”

What was responsible for the breakthrough and miracle of Mary? She was highly favoured.

Can you raise up your right hand and decree this upon your life:

(Mention your name), hear the word of the Lord: become highly favoured! In the name of Jesus.

Proverbs 22:1 (KJV) says: “A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.”

Psalms 41:11 (KJV) says: “By this I know that thou favourest me, because mine enemy doth not triumph over me.”

That is, favour is capable of ensuring that your enemies never triumph over you.

That favour is:

  • Approval.

  • Divine accommodation, the heavens accommodate you.

  • Divine admiration.

  • A divine assistance.

  • A divine backing, the Almighty is backing you up.

  • Heavenly bias: heaven is just biased towards you. God told Lot and his family, “Flee from Sodom; look not back behind you, lest you be destroyed with this city.” The wife, who looked back, became a pillar of salt.

But Abraham stood and was watching the city God said they should not turn back to look at, and he did not become a pillar of salt.

  • Divine benefit.

  • Divine uncommon blessing.

  • Divine cooperation.

  • Divine good will.

  • Divine help, the Almighty has decided to help you.

  • Divine grace.

  • If you like, divine partiality.

  • Saintly respect by heavens towards you.

  • Divine respect.

  • Divine service.

  • divine support.

  • for heaven to make you an exception. That is, others may, but your case will be different. The enemies might have been blocking others, but they find it impossible to block you.

  • divine support.

  • divine pampering. The Almighty is pampering you.

  • Divine promotion. Heavens smiling upon you, endorsing you, and fancying you.

  • Divine honour, being singled out by heaven. The Bible says, “Blessed is the man whom God has chosen.”

I am going to pray a prayer now. Let your amen be loud and sevenfold:

Any power that does not want you to be singled out for blessings, we bury them now! In the name of Jesus.

What happened to the man by the pool of Bethesda? It was just a favour, because the Bible said there were multitude of sick and paralysed people waiting for the troubling of the water. Jesus just went straight to that person.

The man who had the power to command the whole multitude of sick people there with one word did not spread it around like that; he just went straight to one man. This is why I am decreeing right now that:

Whether the enemy likes it or not, your case must be different! In the name of Jesus.

Favour is:

  • Favourable regard.

  • A gracious kindness.

  • For somebody to be considered as a favourite. And do not let any preacher deceive you that God no has favourite. He has, and you can decide to be His favourite.

Cain went away from the presence of the Lord, and the Lord said, Let him go, but when Jonah did the same thing, God pursued him.

So, God has favourites.

  • Divine settlement. The Bible says, “Without faith, it is impossible to please Him.”

The Bible also says, “If any of you shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass.” It now makes one statement: “It shall be so.” Not “it may be so.” A very strong affirmation. Let somebody with high faith here tonight raise up his right hand and shout this seven times:

Father, before the end of this month, settle my case!

So favour is:

  • Divine settlement. The Lord just decides to settle your case.

  • Divine advantage. That is, God is granting you concession.

  • What makes it easy or facilitates your moving forward.

  • That factor that can distinguish you in a world with a sea of people. It makes you to stand out without being crushed.

  • Divine elegance.

  • Supernatural assistance to become something in life.

Or have you not read what is in 1 Samuel 2:9? It says: “He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.”

The Bible also says, “The race is not to the swift, neither the battle to the strong..” Meaning that you could be strong and lose the battle. You could be fast but lose the race.

So favour is that factor that will make you fight and win, run and win, when you are not even qualified for it; when you are not experienced for it.

The battle is not to the strong, neither is the race to the swift. I learnt this lesson the hard way when I was in school.

It was a 100-metre race, and I was representing my house, and everybody was expecting me to win because, true, I had been winning all other races like that.

And so the interhouse sports day came, and the referee said, “Get on your marks, get set.” When he said “get set,” I was expecting him to say “go!” and because I was expecting him to say so, I took off. He shut his gun and said, “All of you, come back.”

He came to warn me on my lane and told us to get ready again. People were already shouting “Daniel! Daniel!” expecting me to win. So I became afraid.

When the referee shouted the instructions, he did not wait again but instead immediately shot his gun, and others took off, but I did not. I just found out that I was following them until we finished.

I lost the race, even though I could run faster than them. So, the battle is not to the strong, neither is the race to the swift. It is favour that uplifts men.

Favour is God making people show interest in you without you lobbying or begging for it.

The announcer of men. It causes men to locate you and deliver your rights into your hands.

There is something about the Almighty that favour keys into.

God can bring something out of nothing. That is one of the mysteries of God. It is this particular ability. That is why the Bible says, “With God, all things are possible,” visible or invisible. So whether or not God has raw materials to work with, He can bring something out of nothing. God can heal the sick, whether or not you have faith. God has all spare parts. God can move anywhere, whether there is a road or not. God can perform His surgery without any knife or equipment.

God can create a space where the enemy says there is none. God can set invisible enemies against your visible enemies because He is the One who can bring the visible out of the invisible.

When you are going and you are seeing nothing, with divine favour upon you, you just keep moving on. And with that favour upon you, God will show you what He can do with nothing.

Favour makes men remember you. Favour makes your helpers lose sleep until they come to your aid.

And I decree that upon somebody here that: your helpers will lose sleep until they come to help you! In the name of Jesus.

Just like that king could not sleep until the case of Mordecai was sorted out. Favour ensures the continuity of life. It is a maker of glorious destinies. It is the strength of your progress. It is the termination of struggles. You stop struggling with the strugglers and wrestling with the wrestlers. It is favour that makes somebody out of nobody and converts a zero into a hero.

The truth is that without favour, destiny will be grounded.

Favour is divine encounter, godly delight. It is a divine preference, irrespective of the better qualities of others. It is the presence of God upon a life. Favour moves you forward, while others are stagnant. It makes you laugh while others are crying. In this meeting today,

  • desire that you want divine favour.

  • decide and determine that you will get it by your prayers. And then,

  • pray favour-magnetizing prayers.

PRAYER POINTS

  1. Expectation blockers, I am not your candidate, die! In the name of Jesus.

  2. Congratulations blockers, you are liars, die! In the name of Jesus.

  3. Testimony swallowers, my life is not your candidate, die! In the name of Jesus.

  4. (Lift your two hands up to heaven) Rain of divine favour, fall upon me! In the name of Jesus.

  5. Thou mantle of favour, overshadow my life! In the name of Jesus.

Rekindling the Flame for a Lost Generation”

culled from the books "Why Revival Tarries by Leonard Ravenhill" & "One More Revival by Daniel Popoola"

Text: Hosea 6:2-3; Matthew 11:12; Psalm 85:6; Acts 2:41

Key Hymn: “Spirit of the Living God, Fall Afresh on Me”

Introduction: The Cry for Revival

The need for revival is the most urgent cry of our time. The world lies in moral and spiritual decay, and yet, within the walls of many churches, we see complacency, strife, and a diluted gospel that lacks power. Revival is not a mere religious program; it is the supernatural move of God that transforms individuals, churches, and nations. It is the return to the Acts 2 experience, where multitudes were saved and communities were turned upside down.

As declared in Why Revival Tarries, the absence of revival stems not from God's unwillingness but from man's unpreparedness. Similarly, One More Revival, exhorts us to prepare as vessels for the Holy Spirit’s outpouring. The flame of revival is within reach, but it requires desperation, brokenness, and a holy cry.

Revival is not a gathering of believers or fervent prayers alone. It is when the Spirit of God breathes life into spiritually dead souls. It is the breaking of chains, the convicting of sinners, and the birthing of righteousness. Revival is God’s divine intervention, restoring humanity to His purpose and glory.

The Marks of Revival

  1. Repentance: Revival begins with a broken and contrite heart. (Psalm 51:17)

  2. Transformation: The vilest sinners are made new. (Acts 9:1-18)

  3. Contagiousness: True revival cannot be confined; it spreads like fire.

  4. Fruitfulness: In the Welsh revival, entire communities turned to God. Politicians, drunkards, and criminals surrendered at the feet of Christ.

Why Revival Tarries

  1. Worldliness: The greatest hindrance to revival is the infiltration of worldliness into the church. The book Why Revival Tarries calls this “spiritual adultery.” As the book: One More Revival notes, revival cannot co-exist with a love for the world. We must cry like Evan Roberts, “Bend me, Lord,” until our desires align with His.

  2. Lack of Prayer: Revival is born in the prayer closet. It is sustained by persistent intercession. Elijah prayed until fire fell (1 Kings 18), and the disciples tarried in the upper room until the Holy Spirit descended (Acts 2). Yet today, many neglect the altar of prayer, opting for convenience over consecration.

  3. Division in the Body of Christ: One More Revival emphasizes that unity is the prerequisite for revival. Elijah rebuilt the broken altar with twelve stones representing Israel’s tribes before God answered with fire. In our churches, we must remove envy, strife, and division, aligning ourselves with God’s purpose.

The Chemist of Revival: The Man God uses

  1. Brokenness: Revival begins with individuals who are wholly surrendered to God. Brokenness is dying to self, as Jesus said, “Except a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies…” (John 12:24). God is not looking for talent or titles but for yielded vessels.

  2. Holy Desperation: Why Revival Tarries describes revivalists as men and women who “agonize, not organize.” In Nigeria, Ayo Babalola left behind worldly comforts and spent days in prayer on mountain tops, ushering in a move of God that emptied hospitals and silenced demons.

  3. Aggressive Prayer: Revival requires fervent, faith-filled prayer. As One More Revival writes, “Gentility in the place of prayer will not help.” We must pray until heaven is moved and hell is shaken.

  4. Dependence on the Holy Spirit: No Holy Spirit, no revival. The early church did not rely on marketing or human effort; they depended entirely on the Spirit’s power. In Ezekiel 37, the dry bones came to life only when the breath of God entered them.

Impact of Revival

When revival comes, its effects are undeniable:

  1. Salvation of Souls: Peter’s sermon on the day of Pentecost led to the salvation of 3,000 souls. True revival draws sinners to the cross in droves.

  2. Societal Transformation: In Wales, bars closed, crime rates plummeted, and righteousness prevailed. When revival touches a nation, it cannot remain the same.

  3. The Glory of God: Revival glorifies God as His kingdom is established on earth. “The earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11:9)

Preparing for Revival

  1. Seek God’s Face: Revival is not something we conjure; it is a gift from God. Pray fervently, “Lord, send revival, and let it begin with me.”

  2. Repentance and Sanctification: Personal holiness is the foundation of corporate revival. “Without holiness, no man shall see the Lord.” (Hebrews 12:14)

  3. Unity in the Body: Lay aside denominational pride and personal offences. Pray together, labour together, and long together for God’s glory.

  4. Tarrying in Prayer: One More Revival reminds us that revivalists rely heavily on the Holy Spirit. Do not cease praying until the fire falls.

Conclusion: One More Revival, Lord!

As we cry for revival, let us remember that God desires to move mightily among His people. He has done it before through men like Evan Roberts, Ayo Babalola, and William Seymour. He can do it again.

Let us echo the psalmist’s plea: “Wilt Thou not revive us again, that Thy people may rejoice in Thee?” (Psalm 85:6)Church, the time is now. Cry out, tarry, and prepare. Revival is not a distant hope—it is a divine promise awaiting fulfillment.

Will you be God’s vessel for this generation? Surrender today and let His fire ignite your soul.

Peace with God,

Daniel Popoola

Samson did not know that the Lord had departed from him. If there is anything you must defend for now and for the coming year, it is your glory.

If there is any fight you must fight, it is the fight to retain, and get your glory to shine. If there is any battle you need to wage, you need to wage the battle against the glory killers.

===> That is why I am praying for someone here today, that every rage of glory killers upon your life shall be destroyed in the name of Jesus.

===> May the Lord never depart from you!

The glory may descend in deafening claps, in lightening and thundering flashes. When the glory descends, it may fill the whole tabernacle.

It may fill the place with unapproachable cloudiness, that even the priest cannot approach. It may fill the horizon with rainbow but when it departs, it goes quietly. So unnoticeable that a person may think he is still in Christ, whereas he is totally gone.

At the dedication of the temple in those days,  the Bible said that the glory was so much that the priests could not even stand.

But as marvellous and as great as it is when that glory descends, when it goes, it leaves so quietly that a person may not even know that it is gone. But your enemies will know that you are just an empty barrel, making plenty of noise and that there is nothing ready to defend you.

When Israel was at the war front in 1 Samuel 4, the priests were ministering for their success, but these people did not realise that the glory had already departed from Israel.

They made noise, they shouted at the war front. When they brought the ark of God to the war front they shouted but it was an empty revival. They shouted so much that the Philistines were afraid.

And when they told the Philistines that the ark was already in the camp, they too were afraid but they decided to fight. And they not only conquered Israel, they took the ark away from them.

This was the ark they saw and they were making noise simply because something had happened: the glory had departed.

Many have sold off their glory. Many trade off their glory. Many exchange their glory. Many sold theirs many years ago. Unfortunately, many are selling it now.

===> I pray once again that every rage of glory killers against anyone here shall be silenced in the name of Jesus!

The Bible says “when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all gathered together in one place and suddenly there was a sound as of a mighty rushing wind. It filled the house where they were and cloven tongues as of fire came upon them”. But by the time the thing would go, nobody would tell.

When the anointing came upon Samson, it was a public affair. It won him applause. But when that spirit departed, it was a quiet affair. Very very quiet affair in the bedroom of a prostitute.

Many have sold off their glory in the bedroom of prostitutes, in the bedroom of fornication, in the bedroom of stealing, in the bedroom of lying. That of Samson was lust and he did not know.

Samson was unaware of what he had lost. He boasted “I will go out as at other times, I will shake myself.” He could not tell that the Lord had departed from him.

So, noise is not the sign of the presence of God. Whether the noise is organized or disorganized, it is not the sign of the presence of God.

Everybody may tell when the glory comes; like a rushing mighty wind, but they cannot tell when it departs. Just like an evaporating mist.

The problem is this: what chases the glory away? Why does it just depart and expose a man to danger? Because immediately the Lord departed from Samson, he was finished.

Immediately that glory was withdrawn, Samson was finished. Why does this happen? Ezekiel 33:30-32 has the answer.

Ezekiel 33:30-32 – “Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD. And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.”

Beloveth, this is a very, very serious lamentation for the church of God. About ten different lamentable tragedies have befallen the modern day Christians. You will do well to listen to me very carefully.

  1. There is a chronic lack of knowledge of  Scriptures. There is a lot of  Biblical illiteracy. Plenty of people going to church, but they do not know their Bibles at all.

Foundational class, they will not go. Membership class, they will not go. Bible study, they will not come. Sunday school, they will not come. They take the Bible home but they do not read it. There is a chronic lack of knowledge of Scriptures and the lack is so much that even some do not even know how to open their Bibles.

It should take you only seconds to find where you are opening in the Bible. When they say “open to this scripture” but you are still going to index to look for where it is, then you are not there at all.

That is the first problem that we have. And it ranges from pastors to members. The fact that a man is speaking on television does not mean he knows what is in the Bible.

The fact that somebody pays a big tithe does not mean that he knows the scriptures. Many can pray but few understand the scriptures.

And that lack of understanding of scriptures is why the enemy is confusing so many Christians.

  1. Multiplication of cleverly concealed sins. If you know the silent iniquities that some Christians carry out; if you know the strange places that some people go to; strange mountains, strange prophets, you would be surprised.

Plenty of believers are living a quiet life of cleverly concealed sins. It is clever. You tell prophets lies, lie to the men of God.

They raise up their hands and say “anointing fall on me” when they are living in very quiet and concealed sins.

Many of the brothers have sold out their wealth, both present and in future, in the bedroom of prostitutes and yet they are coming to pray. It is a serious problem and it is plaguing Christianity.

  1. Complete lack of interest in evangelism. The present day believers are not interested in sharing the gospel with others, in ministering to people.

When you tell them to share the gospel to people, they say “but I am not in evangelism, so why should I?”

  1. Weak altars of prayer. “I am looking for somebody to pray for me.” You get to a level where you need to now repair your weak altar so that that altar can withstand the breakthrough you will face.

Let me tell you a secret here this morning. Some of us, until that our altar of prayer is strong, God cannot give you the great breakthrough He wants to give to you because if He gives it to you and you have no prayer altar to sustain it, the enemy will take it away. And it is better for you not to taste the testimony at all than for you to taste it and someone takes it away.

  1. Obituary of quiet time. Many believers do not observe any quiet time anymore. It is a big tragedy indeed.

  2. Poor reading culture. I am sure there are people here this morning who in the whole of this year have not read one Christian book.

They read newspapers, magazines but cannot say “I read this Christian book this year”. It is a terrible tragedy indeed.

  1. Inordinate love for positions. People love titles in Christianity now. All kinds of names. “His Holiness”, “His Preminence”, “His Super Spiritual”, “Reverend”, “Doctor”, “Professor”, everything! Titles. Overseer this, overseer that. Head of this, head of that. Inordinate love for positions. All empty positions that will carry nothing when the final trumpet sounds.

  2. Unholy attention to money. Untidy love for money in the lives of present day Christians.

  3. Entertainment lovers. Modern day Christians love entertainment so seriously that it is even becoming very popular to bring comedians to church so that people can laugh.

They like to be entertained whereas the church is not an entertainment centre. It is a warfare zone, a military barrack. It is a serious, serious problem.

  1. Being sermon-proof. It is like when somebody is wearing a bulletproof vest and you are shooting the person. Because he is wearing a bulletproof vest, the bullet will not penetrate.

It is like when you have a waterproof umbrella. Because it is waterproof, water cannot enter. It is also like a soundproof building. When you soundproof a building, all the sounds you are making cannot come out.

There is a serious problem now. I am crying out to those who will care to listen. Plenty of the present day Christians are completely sermon proof Christians.

They come to the house of God, stay long but there is no change in their lifestyles. You come to the house of God but you are completely deaf to what they are saying.

You have your own opinion and your opinion is completely different from that of heaven, you are a sermon proof Christian.

You come to the house of God, nothing preached moves you. You are not interested, you are a sermon proof Christian.

You come to the house of God, you select what you want to hear. You close your ears to what you do not want to hear. You hold on to the one that is convenient, you are a sermon proof Christian.

If the mosque people are dressing properly, then we Christians are dressing anyhow and claiming there is no power, then that is part of the reasons there is no power. This is a very serious matter.

I want you to understand this: when you are part of those people who preach to others but you yourself are not listening to what you are preaching, you are a sermon proof person.

You invite others to come and hear the word of God, yet you are a hypocrite in heart: you are a sermon proof person. When you refuse to allow the word of God to change your heart and any time you are confronted with the fact that you need a change, you are quick to point to the examples of others. “But this person is not doing well”. Or “that person is not doing well.” Even as I am talking now, you may say “they are talking about so and so”. But I am not talking about so and so, I am talking about you.

When you refuse to allow the word of God to transform you, it is a sermon-proof agenda you are running. Christians come and show very fake interest in hearing things of God but no penetration of the heart. It is a serious matter.

My heart goes out to those parents who are here today and their kind of sermon proof lives confuse even their own children. They are causing plenty of confusion and they are even confusing the young ones at the youths church.

They have been here for long; and their sermon proof lives at home cannot even minister to their own children let alone in public life.

When a person is not interested in getting involved in the church and regards the church as a social gathering, he is a sermon proof Christian.

When during sermon, you are either sleeping or chatting away: you are a sermon proof Christian.

You come to the house of God: no notebook, no Bible, no writing, nothing to record in any form; you are a sermon proof Christian.

When you become over familiar with God, and you are not even careful again, then you become like brother Judas in  the Bible. He sat under the best teacher of the word of God and inspite of the fact that Jesus said “one of you shall betray me tonight. The Son of Man goeth as it is written of Him but woe unto him that betrayeth the son of Man. It would have been better if he were not born!”

Just that sentence alone if you are not sermon proof is enough to scare anybody from whatever they wanted to do but Judas heard that one and because he was sermon-proof, he still went ahead to betray his Lord.

When somebody goes ahead to do evil inspite of warnings, he is a sermon-proof Christian. There are partial and total sermon-proof Christians.

They move from church to church in order to avoid the truth and they harden their hearts. The terrible prophecy in the Bible has come to pass in their lives.

===> I pray that the terrible prophecy of those who are sermon-proof will not come to pass in

your life in the name of Jesus.

WHAT IS THIS TERRIBLE PROPHECY?

Paul the apostle had preached and preached and some believed, others did not. This was the final word he dropped with them. (Acts 28:24-27).

Acts 28:24-27 – “And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not. And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers, Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive: For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.”

The prophecy is that they become totally sealed off, completely sermon-proof. No healing, no deliverance, no salvation.
